Jenna's Easy Weight-Loss Diet

Do you want to lose weight?

Well I have found a way to lose weight and keep it off – that works! You don’t have to go to Join Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers or take a pill that makes most of the fat you consume come out with your waste. (Expense aside, the odor is enough to dissuade most dieters from taking the pill I just mentioned.) There are no diet pills associated with this plan. If you can add and subtract, you can do this. If not, run and get your calculator.

Here’s what you do:

1. Weigh yourself and record it. A digital scale is a big plus because you can see your progress in ounces, instead of pounds.

2. After you record your weight, click on this website to find out your ideal weight:

http://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/weight/#

3. Then click on this site to find out how many calories you need to consume daily to maintain your current weight:

4. Now we’re going to do the math. Subtract your ideal weight from your current weight. This is the number of pounds you need to lose. Some people are not interested in getting all the way to their ideal weight. If that is your desire, just subtract what you would like to weigh from what you do weigh to determine how much weight you need to lose.

5. It takes a 3,500-calorie decrease to lose one pound. Divide 3,500 calories by 7 days. That gives you 500 calories a day you will need to cut out from your daily food intake.

In order to lose 1 pound per week, you’ll need to cut out 500 calories per day. Subtract 500 calories from the figure in #3 (the number of calories you will need to maintain your current weight). This will give you the number of calories you will need to eat daily in order to lose 1 pound per week.

6. Let’s do a hypothetical:

A 5’-1”-tall woman weighing 140 pounds needs approximately 1600 calories to maintain her current weight. She subtracts 500 calories from 1600 calories and gets 1200. This is the number of calories she needs to eat to lose one pound per week. With exercise, she will lose more weight.

Remember:

Current calories minus 500 = number of calories you can eat per day.

Simplified:

1600 = calories to maintain 140-pound weight.

- 500 calories

1200 = daily calories to lose 1 pound per week.

7. I went on this diet, and within 7 months, had lost 28 pounds. I did light exercise to speed up my metabolism.

8. As you lose weight, you may want to recalculate your daily calorie allowance. I didn’t do that but exercised instead.

9. One more thing: Don’t consume more than 30 fat grams per day. Get yourself a pocket calorie/fat gram counter and slip it into your pocket or purse. Pretty soon you will remember the calories and fat grams in your favorite foods.

Here is the link for a site that provides the nutritional information for most foods:

http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/

10. Eat 3 meals and 6 snacks (or more) per day. This way you will never become ravenously hungry and lose your resolve. Your blood sugar won’t crash, and you have lots of energy to get through your day.

11. Never eat less than 1,000 calories per day. Otherwise, your body will go into "starvation mode," where you begin metabolizing food more slowly. You will end up gaining weight.

I never believed that I had what it took to lose weight by counting calories and fat grams. I have zero willpower, but with this diet, willpower doesn’t even come into play. There are plenty of low-calorie, low fat desserts and lots of inexpensive pre-made meals that are under 300 calories and 10 fat grams or less. Or you can do your own cooking. Most restaurants offer “guiltless” menus for people who are watching their weight.

So go ahead and give it a try. You’ll feel better and like the new you!

Thanks for the posting. I have usually seen that almost all people are eager to lose weight when they wish to look slim in addition to looking attractive. However, they do not usually realize that there are many benefits to losing weight as well. Doctors assert that obese people suffer from a variety of illnesses that can be directly attributed to their particular excess weight. The great thing is that people who're overweight and also suffering from a variety of diseases are able to reduce the severity of their illnesses by way of losing weight. You are able to see a steady but noticeable improvement with health when even a small amount of losing weight is achieved.
